Eric’s Birthday – The Aftermath Edition

Delange_Jaan

All I can say is, thank God it’s over. What was originally planned as a routine birthday party on Saturday quickly escalated into a full blown Delange-A-Thon, capped with a Sunday evening debacle at Carpe Diem in Hoboken. As I buckle beneath the strain of my emotional hangover and begin to piece my life back together, a few things come to mind:

  1. I get a lazy eye when I drink and it has become socially and physically debilitating. I dont know how Forest Whitaker pulls it off.
  2. At some point on Saturday my shoulder went out and I can’t lift my left arm above chest height. The aforementioned lazy eye may have been a contributing factor.
  3. Rediscovering the glory of Cuts Like a Knife by Bryan Adams was long overdue.
  4. Crashing a BBQ on Sunday night is not nearly the same thing as crashing one on Saturday. The reason being that on Sunday’s, there are little kids involved and you will inevitably stick out like, well, three guys who are way too drunk for a Sunday night BBQ. This is especially true when one of your fellow crashers falls over on the patio while inhaling brownies two at a time. Thanks and sorry to whoever’s party that was, by the way.

Well, the important thing is that we all learned a valuable lesson this weekend. Time to move on. Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday night and also props to Nick at Carpe for helping us “ease” back into the work week. If you live in Hoboken and you’ve never been to Carpe Diem, definitely check it out. Great place.
